제목 Optically Transparent Nanocomposites Achieved from Homogeneous Dispersion of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWNTs) into Polycarbonate (PC)
초록 Optically transparent nanocomposites from homogeneous dispersion of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) into polycarbonate (PC) were prepared. Their thin films were cast from solution of MWNT/PC in trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). Three types of MWNT were used for the nanocomposites. Two of MWNTs were first functionalized with 4-ethoxybenzoic acid and 4-aminobenzoic acid to afford corresponding ethoxybenzoyl-MWNT (EtO-MWNT) and aminobenzoyl-MWNT (H2N-MWNT) via a Friedel-Crafts reaction in PPA/P2O5 medium. Both functionalized MWNTs were homogeneously dispersed in trifluoroacetic acid and then PC was dissolved to afford corresponding nanocomposites. The mechanical properties of the nanocomposite films were greatly improved due to the improved compatibility between the modified MWNTs and PC. SEM study on the fracture surfaces of nanocomposites provided the clear evidence for to support the improvement.
