제목 Design of temperature-sensitive materials for osmotic control
초록 We will introduce simple methods to prepare both LCST and UCST materials from pre-existing polymers. Acylation, methylation or even salt exchange can introduce the thermosensitive characteristics into polymers. The method is also applicable for the preparation of thermosensitive low-molar-mass materials. Next, we will introduce an osmotic controlling system based on the thermosensitive phase separation. In an aqueous solution of thermosensitive materials, the effective concentration of the solution is abruptly decreased along with the phase separation. We expected that the direction of osmosis can be controlled by the abrupt change of the effective concentration. Based on the thermosensitive solutions, we have developed a simple, reversible, and effective method for controlling forward osmosis (FO) by mild temperature change.
