Vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) tend to gain more attention as the existing grids are getting more unreliable due to significant integration of intermittent renewables. VRFBs enable more efficient, reliable usage of renewables and existing grids. Research efforts on materials including electrolyte, electrode, and membrane are much more published now while there are few in the system level over tens of kW.
