We propose a fundamental thermodynamic frame-work to describe the solvent activity for polymer solution. The significant free-volume differences between solvents and polymers that occur in most polymer-solvent solutions generally lead to the underestimation of solvent activities. To take into account the free-volume differences, we employ simple free-volume expression proposed by Elbro et al. Binary parameters are obtained from LLE data. Our proposed model has no adjustable parameters. The predicted results are compared with the experimental data for some binary polymer solutions at various temperatures.
