Polymers and Composite Materials for Organic Solar Cells and Li-ion Batteries |

We developed n-type conjugated polymers and composite electrolytes for applications in all polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) and all solid state Li metal batteries, respectively. Using the naphthalenediimide (NDI)-based copolymers, we report the effects of side chain length and molecular weights of NDI-based n-type polymers on photovoltaic properties. We found out that molecular ordering is important factor to improve power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of all-PSCs. We also demonstrated that all-PSCs showed excellent mechanical property compared to that of fullerene-PSCs. For solid electrolytes, we investigated ceramic-salt electrolytes that are cold sintered at low temperature below 200 oC showing ionic conductivity of 10-4 S cm-1. We showed that cold sintering process provides a new approach for bridging the gap in processing temperatures of different materials, thereby enabling high-performance composite for electrochemical systems. |
