Surface treatment of N, F co doping on activated carbons (ACs) was successfully carried out with ammonium hydroxide and hydrofluoric acid. In this work, N, F co-doping treatment was found to induce changes in the surface chemical and textural properties and the electrochemical properties of ACs. The N, F co-doped ACs exhibited remarkably increased specific surface areas, total pore volumes, mesopore volumes, and numbers of N- and F-containing functional groups. These changes resulted in the highest specific capacitance of 389 F/g when the N, F co-doping treatment solution was optimized with a mixture of 7.43 mol/L ammonium hydroxide and 2.06 mol/L hydrofluoric acid. Therefore, the N, F co-doping treatment of ACs is a simple and efficient way to enhance the electrochemical properties of ACs. |
