Mg alloys have been used in many applications, such as automobile, aerospace due to their low density and high strength/weight ratio. However, the application of Mg alloys has been limited due to their poor corrosion resistance. Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) treatment is one of promising techniques which can produce protective surface films on Mg alloys. In this work, the PEO film formation behavior on Mg alloys was investigated at various applied current densities in various aqueous solutions. The surface and cross-sectional morphologies of PEO films on Mg alloys were investigated using SEM, EDS and BSE. |
