There have been numerous efforts to redesign existing biological system or design new ones owing to the growing interest in the bio-based industry. To achieve this goal, it is required to systematically understand the biological systems and engineer biological system by utilizing various molecular parts/tools to make cells actually perform specific functions. In this talk, I will describe recent efforts on developing synthetic biology tools to better engineer Escherichia coli. Several cases applying these tools for designing and optimizing synthetic cell factories will also be described. |
