Photothermal conversion effect of plasmonic nanoparticles is widely applied in biological studies such as molecular delivery, cell behaviors, biomolecule detection. In particular, target molecular delivery can be effectively modulated owing to controlliability of local temperature of photothermal conversion effect. Herein, we propose a directed cell positioning and photothermally-enhanced molecular delivery to the cells on the patterned gold nanoparticles. The pattern of gold nanorods (GNRs) inks with cell adhesion formed using micro-contact printing are optimized for cellular positioning. Through the photothermal conversion effect of GNRs, we demonstrate light-induced delivery of detergents to the targeted cells. We expect that this approach provides a new way to enhance molecular delivery into the target cells. |
