Biopolymer-based hydrogels have been recognized as one of the most ideal soft-tissue reconstruction materials due to their biocompatibility and hydrating abilities. Among various biopolymers, hyaluronic acid (HA) has found application in several diverse areas such as cosmetics, pharmaceutics, and soft-tissue engineering. However, HA has a poor stability due to rapid degradation by ROS and hyaluronidase in our body, which hampers long-term usage. Therefore, it is essential to control degradability of the HA hydrogels via crosslinking. Here, we synthesized tyramine-conjugated HA (HA-Ty) and investigated the photocrosslinking properties of the HA-Ty in presence of riboflavin phosphate as an initiator. The resulting hydrogels were examined for their mechanical properties according to the crosslinking condition and tested for their degradability and effect on cell migration. |
