Honeycomb-like structure by a vaporization of polymer solution can produce highly ordered macroporous films that have possible applications including membranes for separation, microrectors, biointerfaces, catalysts, microstructured electrode surface, and photonic applications. On the other hand, the self-assembly of block copolymer in thin film can lead to well-organized nanostructures that can be used as a template or scaffold for nanofabrication. In this work, theses are combined to generate highly ordered macroporous block copolymer films with hierarchical structure. Moreover, block copolymer has another advantage that a physical/chemical contrast between components can be used to induce selective functionalization. Here a gold precursor is selectively incorporated into macroporous films. Detailed film morphology was characterized by optical microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and scanning/transmission electron microscopy. |
