The effect of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene-sulfonate) on the open circuit voltage of inverted solar cell |

We investigated the role of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene-sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) on the open circuit voltage (Voc) of inverted solar cells based on poly-(3-hexylthiophene):[6,6]-phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester (P3HT:PCBM) blend. The structure of devices was indium tin oxide (ITO)/titanium oxide (TiOx)/P3HT:PCBM/PEDOT:PSS/metal anode. To investigate the dependence of Voc on the work function of PEDOT:PSS, we changed the work function of PEDOT:PSS by doping with different solvents. In addition, the effect of metal anodes with different work function on Voc was also investigated in the inverted devices. The Voc of devices was correlated with the work function of PEDOT:PSS. However, the variation of metal anodes on top of the PEDOT:PSS did not influence the Voc. These results indicate that the roles of PEDOT:PSS in inverted cell are not only a hole transport layer but also an anodic interfacial layer which forms the built-in potential through the photoactive layer. |
