The chemical reduction of graphene oxide (GO) typically involves highly toxic reducing agents that are harmful to human health and environment, and complicated surface modification is often needed to avoid aggregation of the reduced GO during reduction process. In our study, We obtained reduced GO with polyphenols in wine. Stable aqueous dispersion of chemically reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was prepared through simple “catechol-induced reduction and functionalization” with an wine catechol like tannic acid (TA), (+)-catechin or real wine. The merit of this method lies in non use of toxic agent, no dangerous waste, efficient removal of functional groups in GO. This approach should find practical applications in large-scale production of widely soluble graphene. |
