Synthesis and Characterization of Water-Soluble and High Resolution Perylene Diimide Derivatives for Fluorescence Imaging |

We report the synthesis of the water soluble perylene diimide derivative (J1-PDI) and the investigation of in vitro and in vivo bioimaging and biomedical characteristics. Perylene diimide derivatives have been shown highly fluorescent labels for biologically probes. However, their poor solubility has limited the application in the bioimaging and biosensing. To improve their solubility, perylene diimide was coupled with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), which endowed the good water solubility and biocompatability to the fluorescent. Compared to the in vivo bioimaging of the control without PEG, the one of the PEG derivatized J1-PDI demonstrated the superb fluorescent imaging. Also, we confirmed it is applicable to in vivo or cellular imaging. The detailed results on bioimaging works using a soluble perylene diimide derivative will discuss in this presentation. |
