Fabrication of coffee wastes-derived activated carbons for hydrogen storage |

In this work, activated carbons (ACs) were prepared by chemical activation with potassium hydroxide (KOH) at different temperatures. The structural properties and the morphologies of ACs were observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The specific surface area and pore size distribution were obtained by N2/77K adsorption-desorption isotherms using the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) equation and non-local density functional theory (NLDFT). Hydrogen uptakes were measured by an adsorption instrument at 77 K and 1 bar. The results present that the different activation temperatures for preparing activated carbons have effects on their porosity with hydrogen storage capacity. |
