Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) are attracting a lot of attention due to high energy conversion efficiency and low cost. To wide application area of DSSCs, their diversity in shape and flexibility are studied by many scientist. The critical barrier to the variation of DSSCs is the liquid electrolyte, which results in its leakage and low long term stability. We tried to prepare the wire-shaped DSSC using gel-form electrolyte of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA). Used gel electrolytes are composed of potassium iodide, iodine, PVA as polymer matrix, and N-methylpyrrolidone as polar diluent. The fabricated DSSCs have twisted wire-form composed of Ti wire contacting anode and Pt wire as cathodic counter electrode. The coating thickness of gel electrolyte was controlled with a dip-coater. The performances of prepared DSSCs were analyzed with the aids of solar simulator and SEM. |
