Particulate matter (PM) induces many inflammatory diseases at respiratory and cardiovascular system. Recently, PM has been reported to disrupt the skin barrier and cause severe inflammation which causes various skin diseases. In this study, we introduce anti-inflammatory drug delivery system which is established by artificial extracellular vesicles via cell extrusion with biosurfactant composed of polyethylene glycol and mannosylerythritol lipid (P-MEL) (AEVP-MEL). Thanks to strong anti-inflammatory ability of MEL, our AEVP-MEL showed enhanced anti-inflammation effects by inhibiting mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway and release of inflammatory mediators such as reactive oxygen species (ROS), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and pro-inflammatory cytokines in human keratinocyte. Moreover, skin barrier and moisture protein levels were increased with the AEVP-MEL. Finally, AEVP-MEL is a potent anti-inflammatory and skin moisturizing vesicles against PM-induced skin inflammation. |
