Impedance Spectroscopy: Application for the Characterization of Nanoparticle Surfaces |

Development of a novel characterization method for the nanoparticle is highly needed in research fields of colloid science and nanotechnology. We examined the applicability of impedance spectroscopy for the surface characterization of nanoparticles. The impedance spectroscopy can identify the every elements of the electrical signal that is influenced by various factors; the surface property of the materials of interest is one of the factors. By fitting the electrical signal to the electrical circuit model, the electrical element such as capacitance from the nanoparticle surface can be characterized. Nonlinear fitting was applied to determine the most proper element of the signal. Several model particles were examined to prove above concept and compared with each other. |
