제목 Fe-based Transition Metal Phosphide Catalyst for Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzer
초록 Water electrolysis is promising technology to produce hydrogen energy which is able to overcome the drawbacks of fossil fuel. MEA-based water electrolyzer has compact cell arrangement in order to minimize the ohmic resistance. It can also increase the selectivity of gas product (e.g. hydrogen, oxygen), because of separated cathode and anode by ion conducting membrane. Transition metal phosphide (TMP) has been investigated as a catalyst for HER. In addition, catalytic activity for HER can be enhanced by alloying of two or more transition metals.  
In this study, catalytic activity of Fe-based TMP for HER was examined in the acidic condition. Fe-based TMP was fabricated on the carbon paper by electrodeposition method. Furthermore, electrodeposited Cu foam (CF) was used as metallic support to provide larger electrochemical surface area. Finally, the Fe-based TMP on CF having the highest HER performance was applied as a cathode for proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer single cell.
