A simple approach to synthesize graphene based polymer composites for high performance Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications |
초록 |
A simple and cost effective approach for developing graphene filled polystyrene (PS) composite was utilized. Graphene Oxide (GO) prepared through a modified Hummer’s method was chemically reduced in an aqueous solution containing PS beads. The solid mixture of reduced graphene oxide and PS beads was filtered and compressed at 120oC under 1 Ton load. The composite shows excellent Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Efficiency (EMI SE) of 26 dB at 18GHz for a 5 Vol% filler loading. In order to probe the shielding mechanism, EMI SE due to Absorption (SEA) and Reflection (SER) was also determined which revealed that absorption is the dominant phenomenon in shielding the Electromagnetic waves. Dielectric properties of graphene/PS composite were also determined and showed a significant improvement from pristine polystyrene samples. |
