Preparation of PMMA/SiO2 composite Microsphere for Electronic paper application |

Charged polymer-inorganic composite particles were prepared for the electrophoretic display technology such as electronic display paper. In this work, we investigated that the PMMA particles with controlling particle size via reaction time were used for core particles and were coated with SiO2 by dispersion polymerization. According to the result, the average size of PMMA microspheres ranged from 3 to 6 ㎛, depending on the reaction times. Optical microscope and scattering electronic microscope (SEM) were used for morphology of polymer composites for the obtained microspheres. Zeta potential and electrophoretic mobility of the fabricated core-shell particles with in a low dielectric medium with changing the charge of polymeric particles were measured by electrophoretic light scattering spectrophotometer for potential application in electronic paper device. |
