제목 Heterogeneous catalytic reaction using palladium-coated microparticles at a fluid-fluid interface
초록 Phase transfer catalysis (PTC) is a heterogeneous catalytic reaction that occurs in a biphasic system composed of catalytic particles trapped at two immiscible fluid-fluid interfaces (e.g., oil-water and air-water interfaces). For instance, when hydrophilic reactants initially dispersed in an aqueous phase yield hydrophobic products via the catalytic reactions at an oil-water interface, the products spontaneously transfer to the oil phase due to limited solubility in the water phase. This reaction process associated with the spontaneous mass transfer through the fluid-fluid interface essentially offers technological advantages particularly in regard to efficient and automated separation of products from the reaction mixture, thereby reducing production costs. In this work, we develop a prototype PTC reactor system and characterize PTC reactions using palladium-coated microparticles trapped at a planar oil-water interface.
