In this study, the various silk sericins (SSs) were extracted by hot water, acidic aqueous solution, urea aqueous solution and SS gels were prepared from extracted SS aqueous solutions. The rheological properties of the SS formic acid solution was measured and the gelation time, thermo gel-sol transition behavior, and gel strength of the SS gel were also examined. SS extracted by urea solution showed the highest viscosity implying it has the highest molecular weight (MW). As the temperature was increased, the gelation time was decreased. As the concentration and MW of SS was increased, the elasticity of gel and thermo gel-sol transition temperature were increased. |
