Rubber morphology of impact polypropylene copolymer (IPC) is strongly related to its optical properties, for example, transparency and gloss. Commonly, film made from IPC is more opaque than films from homo polypropylene or random copolymer because of phase separated morphology resulting from ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) domain. However, by control of composition and molecular weight of EPR in IPC, it was possible to obtain targeted haze level of film. EPR domains of IPC suffer from shear stress in flow direction during the processing of film and its morphology changes. It leads change of surface roughness as well the film transparency. Sample films for analysis were prepared using casting film machine. Morphology, film roughness and transparency were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, 3D surface profiler and haze meter. |
