The Synergistic Effect between Guanidine derivatives and Organic Phosphinate Flame Retardants on the Flame Retardancy of Styrenic Resin |

The synergistic effect between some guanidine derivatives(GD) and organic phosphinate flame retardants(OPFR) on the flame retardancy of styrenic resin has been investigated. The compositions of newly synthesized guanidine derivatives and a commercially available OPFR were applied as flame retarding additives to high impact polystyrene (HIPS). Although there was no flame retardancy of HIPS by using GD or OPFR separately, the evaluation of thermal properties and the flame retardancy of HIPS-GD-OPFR composite showed V-1 based on UL 94V test. |
