Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been considered to kill tumor cells efficiently. Also, local delivery of light could be an attractive approach. Due to these tremendous advantages, researchers have introduced to chemotherapy to elicit a dual-therapeutic effect. Combined with PDT could trigger the cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and enhance the permeability of drug via lipid peroxidation. In this work, we designed drug incorporated light-responsive micelles (ALRMs) by the combination of ROS producing molecule (RP) and ROS responsive molecule (RR) grafted hydrophilic polymer to elicit controlled drug delivery upon laser irradiation. ROS generation with laser irradiation induced the release of drug in micelles via the change of sensitive moiety of RR. Consecutively, rest ROS not involved in change of moiety could elicit PDT which kills directly tumor cells. In summary, this versatile ALRMs platform could be applied to treat tumor. |
