Molecular Weight Control of Chitosan with Cyclotron Ion Beam Irradiation |
| 초록 |
Molecular weight control of chitosan was performed with different treatment conditions of cyclotron ion beam irradiations by controlling its beam species, beam irradiation time and their energies as after pre-calculating the sample positions with Stopping and Range of Ions in Matter software. The molecular weight of the beam-treated chitosan was significantly reduced as observed with changes in its viscosities and colors as well as its degradation in water. We are currently comparing the properties of the ion beam treated chitosan with the acid treated ones in terms of relative viscosity changes and molecular weight distributions. |
