제목 Solar hydrogen production using CdS coated carbon nanofiber mats
초록 Carbon supported photocatalysts are investigated to understand the role of carbon materials for decades. Carbon based materials are good supporter and electron reservoir for heterogeneous photocatalysts. However, powder type photocatalysts have difficulty for collecting, which is an indisputable drawback for operating water splitting. Film type of carbon hybrid photocatalysts could be alternative way to overcome the drawback. Therefore, in this study, we synthesized CdS deposited carbon nanofiber mat (CdS/CNF) for photocatalytic water splitting. The formation of CdS particles on the surface of CNF could be controlled by interaction between CNF surface and solution. Firstly, CNF was prepared by carbonization process of electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber mat. Acid treated CNF (a-CNF) was also prepared to investigate the effect of hydrophilic properties of CNF. CdS nanoparticles were deposited on CNF or a-CNF in alcohol (A) and water (W) solutions by the successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method.
