제목 Hydrophobic Fluoropolymer Tethered On Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxanes (POSS) Via Thiol-lactam Initiated Radical Polymerization
초록 The eight arms of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) were functionalized with (fluoro)polymers. Thiol-ended POSS (POSS-SH) was firstly synthesized from (3-mercaptopropyl) trimethoxysilane. The POSS-polymer were synthesized through thiol-lactam initiated radical polymerization (TLIRP). TLIRP was conducted using a two-component initiation system consisting of thiol-functional groups (POSS-SH) and butyrolactam (BL). We used two different monomers, methyl methacrylate (MMA) and heptadecafluorodecyl methacrylate (HDFDMA) to tether polymer chains on the corners of POSS. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra (1H and 29Si) of the POSS-fluoropolymers showed that their structures are well-defined. The POSS were coated on surface of reinforced glasses and contact angles of water and oil (hexadecane) were measured respectively. Molecular weights were obtained by gel permeation chromatography (GPC).
