In this study, we focused on characterization of a magnetic property of PSSA ionomer at room temperature. For a long time, the room-temperature magnetism (RTM) has been exclusive field of inorganic compounds with a long-range atomic order. Here, the magnetisms were firstly originated from magnetic spins of transition or rare-earth elements themselves, and then strengthened by various magnetic interaction mediating ligand atom's orbitals. In recent, however, there were many reports that such magnetic property was also possible for nano-graphitic materials that were consist of carbon element alone. Therefore, we try to use a hybrid approach based on ionomers containing rare-earth elements in order to realize magnetism at room temperature because the ionomers have spin moment from rare-earth element, but are amorphous polymer not having any long-range order. The RTM is investigated by electron magnetic resonance (EMR) and SQUID magnetization measurements. |
