제목 Effects of Oxygen-Plasma Treatments on Surface and Adhesion Properties of Carbon Fibers
초록 In this work, effects of oxygen-plasma treatments on surface and adhesion properties of carbon fibers (CF) were investigated. The surface properties of oxygen-plasma treated CF were characterized using dynamic contact angle, and XPS. Mechanical interfacial properties of the composites before and after the oxygen-plasma treatments were estimated by KIC measurements. The increase in surface free energy is mainly caused by the introduction of hydrophilic groups after plasma treatments. XPS results indicated that the oxygen-plasma treated CF had higher oxygen concentration and oxygen/carbon ratio than that of the untreated CF. The CF containing COOH-rich functional groups led to the good mechanical interfacial strength of the composites.
