In order to achieve high performance in biosensors, blocking non-specific interaction with biomolecules and having a high affinity to the target molecule must be required. In our previous work, we have developed effective anti-biofouling coatings. We also studied metal nanoparticle-hybridized system for biofunctional coatings. Among those metal nanoparticles we have studied, we observed interesting phenomena in the case of platinum nanoparticles were embedded in the film. PtNP has been studied for their electric function most, but some studies of cancer treatment using Pt has recently conducted. Therefore, here we present our study of Pt nanoparticles, which were embedded in polyelectrolyte multilayer films, for studying their influence on cellular activity based on their electrochemical property and cyto-affinity. We also created micro-patterns of Pt nanoparticles to study cellular motility. This is new type of study of biological system by using nano-sized, non-biological contents. |
