Enhancement of Moisture Barrier Performance With Non-Oxidized Graphene Produced via Solvothermmal Intercalation |
초록 |
As a candidate for high-performance encapsulation materials in flexible electronics, graphene flake has recently been studied due to its high aspect ratio and the unique molecular impenetrability. However, controlling its quality requires further study. Here, we demonstrate an approach to maximize its moisture barrier property by using solvothermal intercalation to produce non-covalently functionalized high quality graphene flakes (GFs). DFT result show that the intercalants aid the exfoliation of GFs by lowering the interlayer binding of graphite layers, resulting in high aspect ratio (~250) and extremely low oxidation (3.17%). The functionalization induces homogeneous dispersion and strong hydrophobicity, which lead to enhanced moisture barrier performances, approaching theoretical level, when applied in a polymer composite. The composite at 1 wt% loading shows WVTR of 0.12 g/m2day, which is currently the best moisture barrier performance reported for a polymer-graphene composite. |
