Preparation of Carbon Nanotube-supported Pt Covered with Silica Layers |

Carbon nanotubes supported platinum (Pt/CNT) catalysts were covered with silica layers (SiO2/Pt/CNT). Commercially available multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were used for the groundwork of Pt/CNT and SiO2/Pt/CNT. In this study, SiO2/Pt/CNT was synthesized by multistep reactions using for Pt/CNT which was prepared by a precipitation method and polyol process. The SiO2/Pt/CNT was performed by a successive hydrolysis of 3-aminopropyl-treithoxyliane and Tetraethyl orthosilicate. Pt/CNT was uniformly covered with silica layers and platinum metal particles with diameters 2-5 nm were dispersed on MWCNT supports. |
