Liquid crystal displays are used the most in application such as cellular phones, wall-mounted flat panel and notebook PCs. Alignment technique is one of the key techniques for LCDs. Although conventional rubbing method is inexpensive and simple, it has some weak points such as high temperature procedure, contamination by debris and electrostatic charges. We suggested ITO nano line pattern as alternative to rubbing method. This ITO line pattern is made by secondary sputtering phenomenon (SSP). By this method, a transparent electrode and an organic alignment layer become one layer. However, this pattern cannot induce the unidirectional pre-tilt angle to LCs. This problem ingenerates disclination line in twisted nematic (TN) cell when voltage is turned on. In this study, deformation of ITO line pattern is developed to give anisotropy and control liquid crystal movement. Before this research, there is no research result about control of pre-tilt angle by physical method. |
