We introduce a novel, versatile and robust approach for the preparation of nanocomposite multilayer films based on nucleophilic substitution reaction, allowing a high intensity and stability of their inherent properties (i.e., magnetic and PL properties) as well as nanoparticle assembly in nonpolar solvents. The strategy is based on LbL multilayer assembly through the nucleophilic substitution reaction between BMPA-stabilized magnetic nanoparticles or quantum dots (QDs) in nonpolar solvent such as toluene or hexane and highly branched poly(amidoamine) dendrimer with amino groups in ethanol. The PL intensity/durability and magnetism of these films was significantly higher than those prepared by the traditional LbL assembly. In addition, we demonstrate that the LbL process based on a nucleophilic substitution can allow the selective deposition onto the well-defined area in spite of hydrophobic nanoparticles dispersed in nonpolar solvent. |
