Study of charge transport properties of ionic liquid-embedded polymer semiconductor blends |

To achieve both simple processability and high device performance at the same time, there have been numerous attempts to design and modify the active materials in solution-processed organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). Among them, the use of polymer semiconductor blends as active components provide a powerful way to tune the charge transport properties of devices and the processability. Here, we have used polymer semiconductor blends with an addition of a small amount of ionic liquid and investigated the effects of ionic liquids on the blend thin films. The ionic liquid-embedded polymer blends were electrically semiconducting when the composition was above the percolation threshold. This novel combination was applied to electrolyte-based gating systems, allowing us to make the best use of electrolyte-gated OTFT operation with high drive currents at low voltages. |
