Curcumin posses anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-carcinogenic, anti-mutagenic, anti-coagulant and anti-infective effects. Despite it has significant wound healing properties, therapeutic use of curcumin has been limited because of water insolubility and unstable nature. Thus, curcumin applied to novel formulation called bigel. Bigels are biphasic systems produced with an organogel and hydrogel mixed together. Also it has both the advantages of hydrogel and organogel. These curcumin gel prepared by bigel evaluated various properties such as cell viability, antioxidant, anti-inflamatory, in vitro releasing of curcumin, in vivo wound healing and compared with carbopol 934. |
