Evaluation on effect of anions of 1-butyl-3-methylimadazolium-based ionic liquids as draw solutes for forward osmosis |
초록 |
The high ionicity, low vapour pressure and high solubility make Ionic Liquids (ILs) potential drawing agents in Forward Osmosis (FO) capable of generating high water flux with negligible reverse solute flux. In this study, a series of 1-butyl-3-methylimadazolium (BMIM) based ionic liquids with higher osmotic pressure than the control sodium chloride were investigated as draw solutes for FO application. The effect of anion of these BMIM-based ILs on the water flux and reverse flux were elucidated using commercially available membranes, HTI-CTA and TFC-PA membranes, via FO and PRO mode. FO run indicated that among the ILs tested, [BMIM] acetate, (0.3M) has the highest water flux (47.60 LMH) using DI as a feed solution.
