제목 Fabrication of superhydrophobic surfaces on polyelectrolyte multilayers via hierarachically and spontaneously formed wrinkling
초록 We introduce a novel method to fabricate superhydrophobic surfaces via wrinkling induced by thin films instability of polyelectrolyte multilayers due to in situ synthesis of Ag nanoparticles (NPs). When Ag NPs are synthesized through cationic exchange into polyelectrolyte multilayers which is consisted of polycationic LPEI and polyanionic PAA pair that have intriguing properties such as interdiffusion and high mobility, wrinkling takes place to relieve the stress generated by the expanded volume of confined area inside PEMs. Directional order of wrinkling is isotropic and a characteristic wavelength and amplitude can be controlled to the film thickness and the number of reduction of Ag NPs. Futhermore when polymer parts of spontaneously formed wrinkling on PEMs are removed by plasma ashing, nanoblade type structure is remained. Finally hierarchical and spontaneous structure can be applied to the superhydrophobic surfaces which has contact angle over 170°.
