Interpenetrating P3HT network structure based on polymer:fullerene solar cells |

Thermal annealing is a widely used process to control the morphology and crystallinity of polymer solar cell based on poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). However, optimized morphology of the blend film is difficult to obtain, because both P3HT crystallization and PCBM diffusion occur simultaneously and interfere with each other during the thermal annealing process. In this study, we have demonstrated the controlled morphology of the blend film using two separate steps: P3HT crystallite formation and subsequent phase separation on mild thermal annealing as low as 80 ℃. Morphological changes of the P3HT:PCBM active layer as varying temperatures were studied. Electron and hole mobilities are also enhanced substantially. |
