UV curable polyurethane acrylate (PUA) resins have become more important in the coating and adhesive industries. Despite of its various benefits, due to lack of flexibility and adhesion, the use of PUA is limited. Recently, these resins must possess improved adhesion and optical properties for the applications to electronic and flat panel display industries. Silane agent and thiol are well known as adhesion promoting additives for acrylate. In this study, we synthesized PUAs with 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane and 3,6-dioxa-1,8-octanedithiol to improve adhesion strength. Silane- and thiol-modified PUA resins exhibited significantly improved adhesion strength without sacrificing optical properties of photopolymerized PUA resins. Transparency was measured to be 92%. UV-visible, 90 degree peel strength measurement and FTIR analysis were performed to characterize PUA resins in this study. |
