Direct writing of polymer nanowires for nanoscale photonic integration |
초록 |
Linking nanophotonic elements is the most fundamental process for nanoscale photonic integration. The current approaches, based on post-synthesis assembly of nanowire waveguides, are challenged by the fundamental issue of unavoidable light leakage to the substrate. Here we present a revolutionary technology, named ‘photonic nanowire bonding (PNB)’, that can directly write photonic nanowires in three-dimensional layout with no substrate leakage in a very simple way. We for the first time demonstrate successful optical linking between nanophotonic elements without any substrate leakage by PNB. Interestingly, the freestanding waveguide retains excellent photonic interconnection in very high stretching. With a capability of easily growing branched structures, PNB allowed us to develop freestanding nanowire multiplexers and splitters. Here the presented PNB shall innovate photonic industries and researches by providing a powerful ground technology for photonic integration. |
