Effect of polyethylene on the rheological properties of irradiated polypropylene |

Blend of polypropylene (PP) with low density polyethylene (LDPE) was prepared by blending together in a twin screw extruder. Trimethylolpropane-trimetacrylate (TMPTMA) was added to PP/PE blend as a crosslinking co-agent to facilitate the crosslinking during irradiation. The effect of polyethylene on the physical properties of the PP was investigated in conjunction with the polyethylene loading in the blend and also their effect to electron beam irradiation induced crosslinking. Thermal and rheological properties were measured by DSC, TGA and dynamic Rheometer. Addition of PE has enhanced the rheological property and this must be due to the effective crosslinking by irradiation. |
