L-lactide and caprolactone copolymers were synthesized by ring opening copolymerization and characterized in a wide range of compositions. The polymerizations were carried out in batch reactor at 130C, with stannous octoate as catalyst. Supercritical fluid reaction system was employed in this study. The solvent used was chlorodifluoromethane (R-22) which was pressurized in order to reach its supercritical state. Variation was applied to monomer concentration, as well as reaction condition (pressure). The copolymer products were characterized by SEM, TGA, DSC and NMR. |
