Biocompatible and biodegradable polyurethanes were prepared with fixed aliphatic diisocyanate and varying ratios of bis(2-hydroxyethyl) isosorbide, and polycarbonate diol via a simple one-shot polymerization without a catalyst. The successful synthesis of the PUs was confirmed by GPC, H-NMR, FT-IR and the thermal properties were determined by DSC and TGA. Mechanical properties were tested by universal testing machine. The degradation tests were performed at 37℃in phosphate buffer solution and contact angle was measured for the surface hydrophobicity. These thermoplastic PU films are considered to be cytocompatible and nontoxic and are soft, flexible and biocompatible polymers, which open up a range of opportunities for soft tissue augmentation and regeneration. |
