Metal hydrides have been studied for an efficient solid-state hydrogen storage. Mg has the advantages of high storage capacity, while sluggish hydrogen sorption kinetics impedes its practical application. Here, we prepared the composite of Mg nanosheets and 1D carbon materials via solvothermal method to improve hydrogen storage properties. In the composite, carbon nanofiber (CNF) with a tube-like structure facilitates hydrogen absorption of Mg by providing hydrogen diffusion channel. Hydrogen can transfer into the inner hollow space of CNF, diffusing through wall of CNF so that it makes larger sorption area on Mg. It leads to the enhanced hydrogen sorption kinetics for Mg, presenting the possibility of an elaborate composite design for high-performance hydrogen storage. |
