Recent Advances in Multi-Nuclear-Cluster-Based Heteroleptic Multiple-Stranded Metallosupramolecules |

Systematic combination of well-defined coordination spheres and geometric properties of multiple types of ligands (heteroleptic) are key approaches in the synthesis of a wide spectrum of discrete metallosupramolecules. Such heteroleptic molecular architectures are expected to afford advanced utility in a variety of applications. Recent advances in the development of multi-nuclear-cluster-based heteroleptic multiple-stranded (HLMS) metallosupramolecules are summarized. To construct HLMS metallosupramolecules, one type of the multitopic ligand can be employed for structural completion of the multi-nuclear clusters, while another type of the multitopic ligand can be utilized to construct multiple strands. Most HLMS metallosupramolecules adopt helical geometries and have high molecular symmetry, which can be key factors for structural generation. |
