Removal of CO is one of the significant issues in the fuel processing. Bimetallic Pt-Sn catalysts are well-known as efficient catalysts for oxidation process. In presence of oxidized Sn species and PtxSn alloys, synergistic bi-functional mechanism facilitates dissociation of molecular oxygen at low temperature and superb adsorption of both atomic oxygen and CO. Titanium dioxide, partially reducible oxide support, not only provides oxygen to active sites, but also prevents metal sintering of active platinum nanoparticles. In this study, we present the effect of tin content in TiO2-supported Pt-Sn bimetallic catalysts with variation of Pt:Sn atomic ratio for the low temperature CO oxidation. Based on the experimental results, TiO2-supported Pt-Sn bimetallic catalyst which have the ratio of Pt:Sn=1:0.25 shows excellent performance on CO oxidation at extremely low temperature. |
