제목 Fabrication and properties of ultrafiltration membranes composed of amine terminated polyethersulfone and self-assembly of antibacterial ZnO nanoparticles
초록  To enhance the hydrophilicity of polyethersulfone(PES) ultrafiltration membrane and solve fouling problem, amine terminated polyethersulfone(PES-NH2) was synthesized via nitration and nitro reduction of polyethersulfone. Then, their blends with PES were used for the fabrication of ultrafiltration membranes and the membranes were prepared via phase inversion process. PES/PES-NH2 membrane exhibited enhanced hydrophilic properties than PES membrane without large loss of solute rejection with increasing weight percent of PES-NH2 until 20%. And self-assembly of ZnO nanoparticles having antibacterial properties was carried out on the PES-NH2 membrane surface. Prior to the assembly of ZnO nanoparticles, ZnO-SOCl was synthesized in three steps. Formation of ZnO-SOCl and assembly of ZnO nanoparticles on the membranes were confirmed from FT-IR, XPS, and FE-SEM. The solute rejection of self-assembled PES-NH2 membrane(aPES-ZnO)(containing 20 wt% PES-NH2) was almost the same with PES membrane and exhibited 5 times higher water flux than PES membrane. Additionally, the membrane showed antibacterial performance because of antibacterial ZnO nanoparticles on the membrane surface.
